ENGAGEMENT OF EXPERTS FOR PREPARATION AND DEVELOPMEND OF COORPERATION AGRO-TOURISM PLAN FOR 5 TYPICAL PRODUCTS/SUSTAINABLE HARVESTING

The project „Eco tourism 4 all“ is realized by Association of Women with Social Problems in partnership with Association for Local and Rural Development and is supported by Regional Cooperation Council, through European Union.

The overall objective of the project is to boost local economies through tourism valorization of the historical, cultural and natural heritage while respecting all the values of the territory.

Project results:

R1: Valorization of high-quality products of the target territories;

R2: Tourism valorization of target territories’ values through development of full adventure trails.

R3: Foster community based eco-tourism, where National park services are improved and valued by the community

Target group: Local producers (agricultural, agro-products) in Fir of Drenova (Albania) and Mavrovo and Rostuse (North Macedonia); associations for agro/eco-tourism development; local experts and bodies related to environmental heritage, agriculture and sustainable tourism; SMEs; tour operators and tourism agencies.

1. Framework of the task
   1. Purpose of the task:

The expert will carry out the activity A 1.2 (Preparation and development of cooperation agro-tourism plan for 5 typical products/sustainable harvesting).

The purpose of this cooperation agro-tourism plan is to make an inventory of Medicinal and Aromatic Plants and Wild Berries for specific area, which will serve as source of information on various species of MAP (Medicinal and Aromatic Plants) and WB (Wild Berries) in the Fir of Drenova as part of activities for the development of sustainable collection of wild herbs, mushrooms, Medicinal and Aromatic Plants and Wild Berries.

This threat has been known for decades. This planned activity is in line with the National parks objectives concerning over collection and non-sustainable collection, thus this agro-tourism plan will provide exact guidance on specific area threatened of over collection and provide recommendations with specific measures to regenerate the specific area.

The cooperation agro-tourism plan of wild herbs and berries should consist of (but is not limited to) the following chapters:

• Introduction of the studied area
• Natural conditions of studied area
• Identification and mapping of targeted species
• Assessment of  status and prospective bio-potential for targeted plant species and area
• Utilization of the targeted wild plant species
• Recommendation on sustainable collection and use of the targeted wild plant species
• Recommendations for collectors and National Park authorities

Association will engage one expert for this activity.

2.2 Activities to accomplish the task:

• Report from the executed task, Agro-tourism plan
• Time sheet

Field photos, meetings with individual collectors, representatives of big business collectors, with tour operators of the area, with representatives of the time in the municipality etc.

2.3 Specific activities

Description of methodology and activities performed by the expert

• Analysis of the current situation of Drenova fir
• Analyze the existing Drenova fir plan (if any, or other studies for it);
• Uses the database developed by the project expert;
• Uses the 2 training modules / its final report (in order to be used as added project value in the agro-tourism plan for the regeneration of the area from uncontrolled meetings);
• Field meetings with individual collectors and local business collectors;
• Field meetings with tour operators of the area (restaurants / hotels / producers and exporters of mushrooms, wild berries, medicinal herbs, etc.);
• Cooperation with local institutions of Korca Municipality and Regional Tourism Directorate;

3. TIME FRAME

3.1 Date of commencement and period of implementation of specific activities

The planned period for the engagement of the experts is December month, starting from December 2019 until January 2020.

3.2 Price

The total planned financial resources according to the financial plan for the engagement of experts is amount 3500 EUR in LEK counter-value.

The costs are borne by the project „Eco Tourism 4 all“.

3.3 Payment

The payment will be made after realization of the planned activities by the experts and after report has been submitted and approved.
